Howdy, Y'all,
What a HOT time at the ol' club!!
Man, was it a HOT time Saturday night at Memories (and I'm not talking 'bout the weather): the music, the chili, the winnings, the folks, the fun -- just everything!! There's one thing for sure -- there was plenty of chili!! With 10 pots competing, another donated, and believe it or not, a great big cauldron well over half full (donated, as well)! I thought that thing held witches' brew till I tasted; boy, was it ever goooood! Um, um; nice 'n tangy, too!!
Now, for some specifics. Chili winners were: 3rd place, none other than Robert E. (Rigged, you say??), 2nd place, Danny Navey (OK, Linda, now you know he can cook, too!), and defending her last year's 2nd place title, Carol Seymore moved into 1st place (You better watch out, Carol; I hear you're gonna' have more challengers next year!!). Congrats to each of you for a job well done!!!
Now, if you don't think Iris Odell was a happy chick 'bout the 50/50 'pot', just check her out in the photo section!! See what I mean? (What'cha gonna do with all that $$, Iris??)
Hurshell, you really know how to pump the crowd and keep'um pumped!! We do love that up-beat, hard-partyin', beer-drinkin', fast-dancin' beach music! (Or, couldn't you tell ??) Babe, you got it goin' on ...
A great big "Thank you" is extended to Tootsie Vinson, Atlantic Beach Mayor, and to Pete Johnson, Dunes Club General Manager for so graciously tasting all our chili pots. You certainly had a difficult task and we so much appreciate your time with us. To all the chili competitors and others who donated chili, dessert, time, and efforts, "Many thanks" for your participation in making this event such a great success! And if you happen to see those 'Rhodes Brothers', Gary 'n Alan, be sure to tell them 'bout their cauldron, just in case their recollection is a bit fuzzy!?! (What, you don't know of what I speak???) Also, welcome them as new members! And to all our new members we say, "WELCOME Y'ALL".
Remember to check out Bob's pics in the photo section. Thanks, Bob, for helping us to verify that we were really there, just in case there's doubt ...
C U next time,
Helon
