The Atlantic Beach Shag Club of Atlantic Beach, NC is a non-profit dance and social club and is a member of the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs, which is made up of over 100 non-profit local clubs from Baltimore to Miami.
Our Club was founded in 1990 and submitted to the Association of Carolina Shag
Clubs for membership on December 17, 1995. The Association approved our
application for membership in January, 1996 and we have been a member in
good standing since that time.
The Club has between 200 and 300 active members each year and holds monthly meetings at 7:00 PM on the 2nd Friday of each month at Memories Beach Club in Atlantic Beach, NC. The business and activities of the Club are managed and governed in accordance with the Club's own set of internally written bylaws. In June, the Club elects new officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer) which begin their duties in July. The Club's Board of Directors is made up of the four elected officers and at least five directors which are appointed by the president.
Each year the Club supports local charities as well as community events.
